WWE 2K23 Officially Announced For March Release With John Cena as Cover Star

Richard Walker

2K and developer Visual Concepts have announced that The Champ is here, as WWE 2K23 will be launching this March, with John Cena as the latest cover star. The latest entry in the grappling series will celebrate 20 years of Cena's career as WWE Superstar, Hollywood actor, and 16-time World Champion.

Cena will also serve as Executive Soundtrack Producer on WWE 2K23, as well as leading a “unique new take” on the game's staple 2K Showcase mode, with the introduction of 3v3 and 4v4 ‘WarGames’. Several of the game's major modes will also be expanded, while the roster promises Superstars and Legends like Roman Reigns, ‘American Nightmare’ Cody Rhodes, Ronda Rousey, Brock Lesnar, ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin, and others.

A new optional pinning mechanic will also feature, as will an expanded roster of GMs and more match types for MyGM, MyFaction online multiplayer, the return of MyRise, and the WWE Universe sandbox mode. The Creation Suite will also be expanding, with custom arenas to be playable online, alongside cross-platform community creations.

WWE 2K23 will be coming to Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC on 17th March, with the Deluxe and Icon Editions offering three-day early access from 14th March. The WWE 2K23 Deluxe Edition will also include the Bad Bunny Bonus Pack (also available with pre-orders), the Season Pass with access to all five post-launch DLC packs, a MyRise Mega-Boost and SuperCharger, and bonus cards for MyFaction.

The WWE 2K23 Icon Edition also bundles the John Cena-themed Ruthless Aggression Pack with ‘Prototype’ Cena, ‘Leviathan’ Batista, and development rookie versions of Brock Lesnar and Randy Orton. The John Cena Legacy Championship and WrestleMania 22 Arena are also included, alongside an Emerald Paul Heyman MyFaction Manager Card, and three Deluxe Premium Launch MyFaction Card Packs.

  • Strange decision, having a blank cover
  • Hopefully build on 2k22 and no online trophies. I had a great time playing 2k22 but online matches vs randoms was not fun at all.
  • Man I miss the road to Wrestlemania from the old SD Vs Raw games.
  • Luckily we 'can't see this' on shelves later on then XD
