This Friday will see The Last of Us Part II Remastered launching for PS5, offering a native version of the 2020 TLOU sequel, with a graphical upgrade and bonus content. But just how much of a visual enhancement is it?

While the Lost Levels and new roguelike ‘No Return’ mode are compelling reasons to give The Last of Us Part II Remastered a go, the graphical improvements are rather more difficult to spot, especially if you're playing the PS4 version on PS5 with the ‘Enhanced Performance’ update.

You can take a look at our comparison of the PS4 version on PS5 and the native The Last of Us Part II Remastered, also for PS5, below, and make your mind up whether there's much of a visual leap. Be sure to watch with a 4K display for the full effect, mind. It's worth noting, that if you own The Last of Us Part II for PS4, you can upgrade to the PS5 version for $10/£10, and transfer any trophies you've already unlocked.

The Last of Us Part II Remastered launches for PlayStation 5 on 19th January. And, if you're after our verdict, here's our The Last of Us Part II Remastered review.

  • Dang -- that is eye-opening. I really can't believe what I'm seeing there.

Thanks for the video and analysis. This is the kind of content that keeps me coming back to this site beyond the trophy information.
