Nexon Korea has announced that The First Descendant will soon be holding an open cross-play beta for anyone who registers here. Due to take place in September, the Open Beta takes into account player feedback from the previous beta, offering optimised performance and “significant” quality of life improvements.

A free-to-play third-person PvE co-op action RPG shooter, The First Descendant uses Unreal Engine 5.2, and sees you playing as a Descendant, tasked with battling alien invaders known as ‘The Vulgus’. Your mission is to protect Albion and the continent of Ingris, in a bid to ensure the ongoing survival of humanity.

You'll be able to team up for 4-player missions, raids, and boss fights, earning new gear, materials, and other items along the way. The Open Beta will feature a “substantial” Prologue, covering events leading up to the game's opening. The game's grappling hook and parkour moves have also been revamped, as have the jump motions.

Eleven playable Descendants and two ultimate Descendants, eleven new ultimate weapons, eight Void Intercept Battle bosses, two Void Intercept Battle maps, a new cosmetic system, and improved world missions will be included in the Open Beta, while taking part will unlock rewards to use in the full game.

These include a ‘social motion' (an emote, we're assuming) for participating, and a back-attachment customisation item for reaching Descendant level 20. The First Descendant Crossplay Open Beta will be held from 19th September to 25th September on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC.
