Abzû and The Pathless developer Giant Squid Studios has announced Sword of the Sea, its next adventure, and, according to Creative Director Matt Nava, the team's “most ambitious game to date”.
Play as the Wraith, you'll traverse a desolate world by riding your Hoversword, restoring life as you explore submerged ruins and the various vibrant cultures that dwell there. You can surf through sunken tombs, huge shipwrecks, and petrified battlefields, resurrecting shoals of fish and other creatures in the process.
Happily, some of these ruins possess skatepark-style terrain, like ramps and halfpipes, so you can catch air while losing yourself in the tides of the Necropolis of the Gods, evading the colossal leviathans that stand in your way. You can take a look at Sword of the Sea in the announcement trailer below. It looks lovely.
Sword of the Sea will be coming to PlayStation 5 and PC.
