Indie developer Jukai Studio and publisher Versus Evil have announced that Stray Souls, a “mystery-driven” psychological horror game, will be launching later this year.

Featuring elements of Japanese survival horror games, randomised enemy encounters, item placement, and weather patterns, Jukai promises that no two playthroughs of Stray Souls will be the same. Made using Metahuman tech and Unreal Engine 5, the game features realistic characters, and is inspired by Resident Evil and Silent Hill.

Stray Souls sees you playing as teenage boy Daniel, who inherits a new home from his estranged grandmother. Upon moving in, he meets the mysterious Martha, who suspiciously seems to known an awful lot about the house. And once night falls, Daniel will find himself attempting to outrun dark secrets from his past.

Stray Souls is due to release for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC in 2023.
