SEGA has confirmed that 1996 SEGA Saturn classic NiGHTS into Dreams is indeed coming to the PlayStation Network, as suggested by a teaser image shown on the publisher's Facebook page on Tuesday. And as we predicted, today's July 5th announcement marks the game's sixteen year anniversary. Yay for us.
“The SEGA Saturn offered many unique gaming experiences, and NiGHTS into dreams… stands out as one of the most recognisable titles that found a home on the system,” said SEGA's Digital Business VP Chris Olson. “We’ve gotten a lot of requests about this game over the years, and are very happy to be able to give both former Saturn owners and new players a chance to play it in its most beautiful form to date this fall.”
NiGHTS into Dreams on PSN will see the innovative 3D gameplay and its rendition of Nightopia revamped in glorious HD with a new 16:9 widescreen aspect ratio, as well as leaderboard support and of course, trophies. There'll even be an additional Saturn Mode, in which you can play the original version in all its untouched glory. Fantastic news all round then.
NiGHTS into Dreams will be hitting PSN this fall. Pricing has yet to be confirmed, but there's a lovely announcement trailer for you to watch.
