Well, that didn't take long. Capcom has now officially confirmed that Monster Hunter Rise is indeed coming to PlayStation and Xbox next month, following today's earlier, and, as it turns out, entirely accurate report.

The acclaimed Monster Hunter title first released for Nintendo Switch before later coming to PC, and has, to date, sold over 11 million units. The game will feature 4K resolution at 60fps on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, as well as 3D audio, so you can experience the people and monsters of Kamura Village in the best way possible. Ranged and shielded weapons will even support the DualSense's adaptive triggers.

In Monster Hunter Rise, you'll have fourteen weapons to choose from, a range of armours to equip, and additional unique, increasingly powerful gear to craft from the carcasses of your fallen quarries. You can play solo, or with up to three fellow online hunters in co-op. A new ‘Wirebug’, meanwhile, allows you to execute grappling traversal actions, so you can zip around and also use the ‘Wyvern Riding’ technique to temporarily take control of a monster. Monster riding! Yay!

There's even the addition of personalised, rideable ‘Canyne’ companions called ‘Palamutes’, who join the cutesy ‘Felyne’ Palicoes on your hunts. Monster Hunter Rise will be coming to PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Windows PC on 20th January 2023, priced $39.99. The Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak expansion will arrive in spring 2023.
