Tiny Tina's Wonderlands has proved to be a great success, and will be the start of a new franchise, according to Gearbox boss Randy Pitchford.

Speaking during the Embracer Group annual general meeting, Pitchford said that Tiny Tina's Wonderlands “shattered all of our target expectations both critically and commercially”, and has established a “firm beachhead”.

“We now clearly have a new franchise on our hands,” Pitchford commented, before going onto the confirm that future Wonderlands experiences were “already under development at Gearbox”.

Tiny Tina's Wonderlands launched in March 2022, giving the Borderlands formula a Dungeons & Dragons-inspired spin. You can read our full review of Tiny Tina's Wonderlands here.

  • I enjoyed the base game. I bought the season pass because i really like the typical season pass formula they use for their games, especially borderlands. You know, 4 full fledged storyexpansions with a theme, togheter with alot of new loot and level cap increase.

With wonderlands we got 4 bosses in 4 mini dungeons that you can grind. Very cheap if you ask me. And since you can dual class and respec the second class freely you dont get that urge to play trough another class either.
  • Still wish they'd at least add a NG+ or story reset like the past games.
  • Yes, the DLC was a rip off!
  • Oh god how terrible. I can’t stand medieval fantasy in most cases. Just gonna be skipping more of their games in the future then
  • Base game was great, DLC was a slap in the face.
  • Agree with the others. The base game was terrific and a lot of fun. The DLCs were fun....for 20 minutes and then they became a tedious chore! I support Tiny Tina's Wonderlands becoming a spin-off franchise provided that the same level of quality is retained and DLCs are either scrapped or improved significantly. I don't mind paying more for DLC if it's a 30-40 hr side story not a repetitive grindfest in a dungeon.
  • I think it shattered expectations because it was fresh, turning it into a franchise kind of undermines that, but will see.
  • Personally I felt this was a big step down from the masterpiece that was Borderlands 2 and somehow ended up being even worse than the already awful BL3 so I will be skipping all future entries in this spin-off series.
