Sherlock Holmes The Awakened Announced as a Remake of the 2007 PC Game

Matt Lorrigan

Frogwares has announced Sherlock Holmes The Awakened, a remake of the original 2007 PC game of the same name.

The game will be a full remake of Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened, with no assets or code being repurposed from the original title. Instead, Frogwares is essentially building the game from scratch to run on Unreal Engine 4, using new assets or assets cleverly reused from Sherlock Holmes Chapter One.

The game's story, which combines elements from Sherlock Holmes and Lovecraft, is also getting significant rewrites. The original premise and writing is something that the team at Frogwares is very proud of, but the story will be adjusted to be a direct continuation of the studio's previous Holmes games.

Ukrainian developer Frogwares is also crowdfunding for the game through Kickstarter, in order to safeguard the overall funding for the game, given the difficulties the studio has faced due to the ongoing Russian invasion of Ukraine. The Kickstarter campaign for Sherlock Holmes The Awakened will go live soon, alongside the first trailer and developer diary.

Sherlock Holmes The Awakened is coming to PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.

  • Nice, I like these games so more is definitely welcome.
  • Wouldn't mind seeing Sherlock Holmes vs Jack the Ripper remade after this.
