No New Sly Cooper or inFamous Games are Currently in Development

No new games in the inFamous or Sly Cooper series are in production, according to developer Sucker Punch Productions.

Sucker Punch has had a long history creating new IP for PlayStation consoles, developing the Sly Cooper series for PS2, before moving onto InFamous on PS3, and then Ghost of Tsushima on PS4. However, in a new blog post, the Sony-owned developer has confirmed that no new games in the Sly Cooper or InFamous franchies are being worked on.

“As our games continue to grow in scale and complexity, they require the full attention of our studio. With our focus on our current project, we have no plans to revisit inFamous or Sly Cooper right now, and no other studio is currently working on projects related to those franchises either,” said the official statement.

“These characters are very special and near and dear to our hearts, so while we’d never say never to re-opening those doors down the road, for now there are no inFamous or Sly Cooper games in development.”

It did always seem likely that Sucker Punch's next game would be a sequel to Ghost of Tsushima, with a 2020 job posting hinting as such. However, rumours had been swirling that a new Sly Cooper game was in development at Pixelopus, another PlayStatio studio responsible for 2019's Concrete Genie. Sucker Punch's new statement appears to put that rumour to bed.

There was a bit of good news revealed by Sucker Punch at the same time, however. InFamous 2's UGC servers are going to be moved to “a new home that will keep them up and running a bit longer”. Meanwhile, the Collector’s Edition exclusive Cole’s Legacy DLC for InFamous Second Son will soon be added to the PlayStation Store for all players to enjoy.

  • Infamous is deeply missed. Was one of the better ps4 games.
  • This is a shame. I really enjoyed both serieses but I can understand why they aren’t making any at the moment
  • I never figured Sucker Punch would go back to do either franchise, but it is disheartening to know that no studio at all is working with either franchise, especially for the Sly Cooper series. It would’ve been nice if at the very least some studio was working on porting all 4 games to PS4/5 so that they would be more accessible than they currently are. While Jak & Daxter never got a PS3-era game like Sly did, at least you can play all the Jak games on PS4/5 since they brought them all over, even if they are emulated versions instead of ports
  • That's a shame, but I believe all games are on Premium anyway. Looking forward to their next project!
  • Wish they would make an infamous ps5 game
