Developer 1047 Games has today rolled out Splitgate Beta Season 2, bringing the number of game modes now available for the free-to-play portal-hopping FPS up to no fewer than twenty-three. Progression and matchmaking has also been migrated to new server framework, and alongside three new modes, there's a remastered Abyss map, new battle pass, and custom map sharing.
Juggernaut, Hotzone, and Lockdown have been added to the pool of modes, with Juggernaut powering up one player at random, pitting them against the rest of the players on the map. Hotzone tasks players with holding a neutral zone for 30 seconds to score points, and Lockdown offers a twist on Domination, with three separate moving zones to control in order to rack up points.
The revamped progression system will tie into the new 100-level battle pass, which includes an entirely new ‘Pro 1’ tier, with another 100 levels of meaningful rewards to earn. These include new player card badges and more, on the way to reaching Pro 10 level. As for the new server migration, this will see matchmaking speeding up, with fewer bots and more opponents of similar skill to compete against.
Finally, the Abyss map has also undergone a complete ground-up rework, with additional portal wall placements, while the new Wet Ocean island offers a new venue for players to build their own maps, then share or save them to the cloud. Splitgate Beta Season 2 is live now across PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC.
