Developer Mediatonic and Epic Games has announced that Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout is coming to PlayStation 5, alongside Xbox and Switch versions, this June, and will be going free-to-play. And it looks like it's also dropping the ‘Ultimate Knockout’ suffix, so you can disregard that full title. Fall Guys it is from now on then.
With the game arriving in free-to-play form, Fall Guys will debut in free-to-play form with a new in-game currency called ‘Show-Bucks’, alongside “major updates” to the game's progression systems. New challenges and rewards will also feature, as will full cross-play and cross-progression, across all platforms, via ‘Epic Online Services’.
First released via PS Plus in August 2020, Fall Guys is a game in which little jelly bean characters compete to knock each other off the map, avoiding obstacles along hazardous courses, taking game shows like Takeshi's Castle as its influence. The game's first new season will be ‘Season 1: ’Free For All', with a selection of events and rewards to earn. The game's free progression path, using Kudos, will remain as-is.
Fall Guys will be toppling its way onto PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and the Epic Games Store on 21st June 2022, as a free-to-play title. Existing owners of the PS4 and PC version will be able to claim the free Fall Guys Legacy Pack with various cosmetic items and the first new Season Pass for free.
