Dead Space Release Date Pins Down Survival Horror Remake For January 2023

EA has announced that Motive's eagerly-anticipated Dead Space remake will be launching in January 2023, bringing the classic 2008 survival horror title bang up to date with overhauled visuals and enhanced audio.

Built from the ground up using the Frostbite engine, the Dead Space remake promises a higher level of “immersion and quality”, as you explore the USG Ishimura as Isaac Clarke, an engineer stranded aboard the planet cracker vessel, which is overrun with vicious alien beasties known as Necromorphs.

"Developing this remake has been a lot of fun for us at Motive, as we’re true fans of the franchise and want to treat it with the respect it deserves. It’s been equally exciting to see players' reactions as we’re taking them on this development journey with us,” said Senior Producer Phillippe Ducharme.

“We’re making great progress on our road to hitting Alpha and we’re happy to announce that the game will be launching in January next year,” Ducharme added. “We can’t wait for players, both old and new, to see how we've elevated the original experience in the remake to be just as impactful for this generation.”

You can find out more about lighting effects, environments, character models, and loads of other stuff from today's ‘Crafting the Tension’ developer livestream, in the trailers below. Dead Space launches for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on 27th January 2023.

  • Waiting...
  • Birthday is January, what a delight!
  • With the current state of AAA games I have a feeling this will be a flop. I hope I'm wrong, but I don't have faith in anything big studios put out.
  • While Frostbite can manage to look fantastic it has pretty much been a nightmare to develop other genres except FPS and annual sports games from my understanding, hopefully Dead Space manages to be fantastic. Missed this gem during the PS3 days.
  • Dead Space was one of my first platinums. I loved that game and the subsequent sequels in the series, but the first one was the best in terms of atmosphere and horror / tension.

I am very skeptical of this, however, and agree with @ BlaZiN cdn .

I hope it works out. But I won't be getting this until well after it has launched and the game is stable and runs well.
  • By Halloween 2023, most of the bugs will be fixed, and I will pick up and play a copy of this on the cheap.

Used, of course, as I don't want to give EA a cent of my money.
  • If not delayed AGAIN that's 7-8 months ish to wait for...
  • Its been so long that it is worth buying again and enjoying it on the new platform with all the improved game/visual/audio mechanics.
  • One of my all time favorite games hands down! So long as Motive doesn't change much and does so, ultimately for the better, it will be golden! But all those thoughts boil down to one thing, EA and it's idiocy!
  • @EmptyFibers, Wow your birthday is a whole month XD

OT: That's pretty quick, given their developers videos I didn't expect this for a full year at least. Time they make a real promotional gameplay trailer or demo.
