Codemasters and EA have today announced EA Sports F1 22, the latest entry in the officially-licensed FIA Formula One Championship series, with a July release date. Promising “the biggest shake-up for over a decade,” the upcoming F1 game will include new hybrid cars, overhauled rules, Sprint Races, and the new Miami Grand Prix.
The entirety of the 2022 season calendar will feature in Career Mode, including the inaugural Miami GP at the International Autodrome circuit. F1 22 will also introduce the new ‘F1 Life’ hub, a customisable area in which you can show off your collection of clothing, accessories, and supercars, earned via gameplay, the Podium Pass or in-game brand store.
Updated physics that take into account new aero rules, and a reworked tyre mode also combine to make the game's handling “more true to life”, alongside Adaptive AI, updated circuits, and expanded gameplay options. A ‘redefined’ race day will also enable you to customise your setup, while new ‘Immersive’ and ‘Broadcast’ options will be available during formation laps, safety car periods, and pit stops.
Immersive will offer ‘risk-reward challenges’, whereas Broadcast removes the pressure, with “controlled and authentic cinematics”. As for the Adaptive AI, this will see AI rivals automatically adjusted to your skill level, so less experienced racers can remain competitive from race to race. Returning features like My Team will include Newcomer, Challenger, and Front Runner starter budget options, and the 10-year Career mode returns with a two-player mode, alongside an online Multiplayer suite.
EA Sports F1 22 launches for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC on 1st July 2022, with the Champions Edition available for pre-order now, offering three-day early access and a limited-time Miami GP inspired content pack. Check out the debut trailer below.
