CD Projekt RED has announced that the new-gen version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has been delayed out of a proposed Q2 2022 window, as it moves the remaining development work on the game in-house. Saber Interactive had been enlisted as developer on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions.

Announced back in 2020, the new-gen version, dubbed ‘The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Complete Edition’ was on for a 2021 release, with new DLC inspired by the Netflix Witcher show to be included. A Q2 2022 window followed, and now, a further delay comes with no indication of when it'll eventually be arriving.

“We have decided to have our in-house development team conduct the remaining work on the next-gen version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt,” the developer tweeted earlier today. “We are currently evaluating the scope of work to be done and thus have to postpone Q2 release until further notice… We’ll update you as soon as we can. Thank you for your understanding."

While CD Projekt RED hasn't offered an update on when we can expect to see The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Complete Edition for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, we can at least look forward to a third season of The Witcher on Netflix and the dawning of a new The Witcher saga, which is being built using Unreal Engine 5.

  • Will this Skyrim and GTA 5 release on the PS6 also?
  • Doesn't sound promising at all.
  • There are so many talented studios out there that specialize on ports and remasters and have done stellar jobs. Well, one less since yesterday. Why would they do it in-house when they already scramble for CP2077 DLC and the upcoming Witcher and whatever else might be in their pipeline? With their track record currently, they might as well aim for a PS6 release.
  • Projekt are just an absolute joke these days. The success of witcher 3 has just left them feeling like they can do no wrong, but it’s just far from the truth.
  • Announced 2 years ago, seriously how long does it take to update an old game to current gen? They've already shown their incompetence time and time again, yet they continue to find new lowes.
  • TNDS1989 I hear they are working on a PS2, Gamecube, and possibly a Sega version of Skyrim.
all jokes aside how much better can the game really get going from PS4 to PS5?
  • Bummer, but with so many games out there and a huge backlog to go through they can take the time they need to make it awesome.
People seem to forget that the pandemic was at its highest about two years ago which impacted development and studios had to adapt. Also, not stated in this article but this change might have to do with the case of Saber Interactive having a studio in Russia.
  • CDPR... More like CDPD, C D Project DEAD.. LMAO
  • CDPR just keep finding more and more reasons for people to avoid them like the plague and disbelieve a word they say.
