Netflix's Live Action Resident Evil Series Gets a Release Date

The live-action Resident Evil series will begin streaming on 14th July 2022, Netflix has announced.

The series, which will focus on Albert Wesker's children, will take place in New Raccoon City, and will expand upon Resident Evil's existing universe and “deepen the existing mythology”. Capcom has been quite liberal when licensing out the Resident Evil license in recent years, with a live-action film, and CGI Netflix series both releasing last year.

We've not seen too much of the series as of yet, outside of a brief teaser showing off a live-action zombie pooch. But we do know a lot of the principle cast, which include Lance Reddick, Ella Balinska, Tamara Smart, Siena Agudong, Adeline Rudolph, and Paola Nuñez. Hopefully we won't have to wait too long for a proper trailer.

  • I can only imagine this will be just as bad as the latest movie, if not worse. I love Reddick, though, so I'll keep some small level of optimism and check this out come July.
  • Just hope the budget is higher than Welcome to Raccoon City, that looked like a Sharknado affair.
  • Always do enjoy some B-Rated 80's films, lol! Probably be what this equates to!
  • 3 Resident Evil adaptations in less than a year and two have sucked so far. Fingers are not crossed on this one.
  • Wesker had 1 kid in canon. Jake. Who is ignored post re6. Seems even Capcom forgot that the Wesker children are not albert weskers actual kids. They are a group of abducted kids being trained to be perfect humans. They are given the name Wesker after the head doctor of the project who's last name was wesker. Only 2 out of hundreds of kids survived the trials. Alex and Albert. Both pretty much dead (don't expect Alex to return) So yea. If you actually know RE lore this show is a horrible joke compared to the other bad ideas.
  • So about that edit button.... Anyways. It was called Project W and it was Spencers real goal for the prognaiter virus all along and the entire reason Umbrella was founded to begin with.
  • I hope it stars Tom Holland
  • Takes place decades after the games, focused on Weskers two daughters, in NEW Racoon City... It's such bullshit. How is it so difficult to make a good live action RE series or movie? The last movie sucked, somehow ruining three games instead of just one. They should have focused on one game at a time, not 1-2 and ruining every event from 3 in the process.
