CD Projekt has announced Project Golden Nekker, a new standalone Gwent game, via IGN.

Due to be released later this year, Project Golden Nekker promises to be a “captivating single-player experience” which will offer something a little different to previous versions of the digital card game - those being The Witcher 3, GWENT: The Witcher Card Game, and Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales.

Project Golden Nekker will be a standalone game, seemingly not linked to any of the previous titles, and won't be “another Witcher Tales” game, according to Gwent comms lead Pawel Burza.

Gwent titles have had mixed success since the launch of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt back in 2015. While GWENT: The Witcher Card Game is still going strong on PC and mobile, support for the console versions was discontinued in 2020.

Project Golden Nekker is due to launch later in 2022.

  • I bet if it had cinematic cut scenes in between it will capture the attention of many gamers. the Game concept is very entertaining and the game mechanics are great now they need to make more presentation and a story to make the game shine as a AAA Game.
  • Maybe finish your current projects first? It's embarrassing that the next gen updates of Cyberpunk and The Witcher 3 are still not released.
