Previously unseen gameplay of cancelled LucasArts game, Star Wars 1313, has been released by The Vault Archive, giving us our first look at Boba Fett in action.

Star Wars 1313 was first announced back at E3 2012, and the first footage of the third-person action adventure game came just a few days later. Taking place in the seedy underworld of Coruscant, the game was highly anticipated by players, but was cancelled when LucasArts was closed by Disney in 2013.

However, prior to the game's cancellation, it was reported that George Lucas himself requested that Star Wars 1313 be turned into a Boba Fett game, ditching the game's new protagonist in favour of Star Wars' most infamous bounty hunter. We've never seen this version of the game in action, however, until now.

The new footage, which you can check out down below, was released by The Vault Archive, which is best known for gathering information and assets on the cancelled Star Wars Battlefront III. In this new footage, we can see Boba Fett walking through an area on Coruscant, with all the assets in place, and it looks rather lovely. Later, we get to see a daring chase sequence, which is still pretty epic even with a lack of textures and finished assets. It's all a touch bittersweet, getting to see what could have been.

Interestingly, a few of the sequences and game mechanics shown off in this new footage bear a resemblance to 2019's Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. This lends some credence to the 2015 statement from Lucasfilm that the company didn't want to “throw any of that stuff away”, referring to the work done on Star Wars 1313.

“It’s gold. And it’s something we’re spending a lot of time looking at, poring through, discussing, and we may very well develop those things further. We definitely want to,” said Lucasfilm's Kathleen Kennedy at the time.

We did finally get a great single-player action game in the Star Wars universe in the form of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, but we still can't help but see this Boba Fett footage and wish that game had come out. In the meantime, Respawn recently announced that its working on a sequel to Fallen Order, as well as a new Star Wars FPS and a Star Wars strategy game.

  • The chase part reminds me of the chase sequences in AC2 against those fast AF guards, just with Boba Fett instead of Ezio.
  • Agree with @JuggernautClone -- the chase gives off strong AC vibes.

I probably would have enjoyed this. I loved Star Wars: Bounty Hunter. Know it wasn't a perfect game by any stretch, but it was a load of fun.

It had a good story that explained events leading up to Attack of the Clones, and some of the bounties were genuinely a challenge to catch.

I remember there was one guy on a sail barge skiff that would jump off to his death as soon as he saw you. You could snipe him, but the contract was for taking him alive. Whether it was a logic scripting glitch or intentional, I thought it was pretty cool that that the guy would ostensibly rather jump into a bottomless ravine than be taken in by Jango.

I like Boba's look in the video, how he's wearing the classic jumpsuit with what I assume to be new armor and helmet, which probably you can swap out as Items. I hate how he looks in Mandalorian and Book of Boba Fett. I like the lean, rangy Boba from the original trilogy, instead of the Dad Bod. He literally looks like a fat man in a suit, like you'd see three dozen of at every SW convention.

  • The concept was good, I guess they didn't have enough innovative ideas to launch it as a new IP.
  • Stupid Di$ney, NaughtyDog could make an epic game about this.
