Elden Ring has gone gold, Bandai Namco has revealed, and is on track for release on 25th February 2022.
The news came as part of an Elden Ring stream at the Taipei Game Show, and saw FromSoftware's Yasuhiro Kitao answering plenty of questions about the game and its development. One of the final questions (asked at the 40:30 mark in the video) was whether development was going smoothly.
Kitao reveals that the game is on schedule to release, and that the master version of the game has already been submitted. This process - also known as “going gold” - sees the final version of the game ready to be printed to disc. This almost always means a game is now on track to release on time, although Cyberpunk 2077 infamously bucked this trend last year, when it was delayed yet again even after going gold.
Still, that was a rare exception, so we can probably start getting a little bit excited at the idea that we'll have Elden Ring in our hands (or consoles) in just over a month's time. Kitao also said that FromSoftware was currently working on a day one patch for the game, to make sure that everything in the game is “just so”.
Elden Ring is launching on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on 25th February 2022. You can check out the full Elden Ring stream (with English subtitles) down below.
