WWE 2K22 Cover Star Confirmed as Rey Mysterio, March 2022 Launch Date Announced

2K Games has officially announced that WWE 2K22 will sport lucha libre Superstar Rey Mysterio as its 20th anniversary cover athlete, the iconic masked wrestler renowned for his high-flying aerial manouevres and numerous championships wins across a storied career. A March 2022 release date for WWE 2K22 has also been confirmed.

"Representing the culture of lucha libre as the cover Superstar for WWE 2K22 is a moment of great pride for me," Rey Mysterio commented. "I’m looking forward to sharing the stories behind the big moments of my career with a dedicated community of players and connecting with WWE fans in a whole new way as they play through my 2K Showcase.”

WWE 2K22 will feature a redesigned game engine, new controls, upgraded visuals, and the return of the 2K Showcase, in which you'll be able to relive the most iconic moments of Rey Mysterio's career. MyRise mode will also enable you to take your own journey to superstardom, while Universe Mode and the overhauled Creation Suite will round out  fully-featured WWE experience, with cross-platform sharing also available.

MyGM and MyFaction will be among the new modes on offer in WWE 2K22, enabling you to call the shots to build the biggest brand in the WWE Universe and collect then manage your dream faction, respectively. The former will include a WWE Superstars and Legends draft, and the latter will include weekly events and regular updates to offer plenty of replay value.

Available as a Standard Edition for $59.99/£59.99, Cross-Gen Bundle with ‘Starrcade ’96 Rey Mysterio Pack' for $69.99/£69.99, Deluxe Edition featuring the ‘Undertaker Immortal Pack, Season Pass, MyRise Mega-Boost and Supercharger Packs, as well as WWE SuperCard content, three-day early access, and the Starrcade ’96 Rey Mysterio Pack with new-gen versions for $99.99/£84.99, WWE 2K22 will be launching on 11th March 2022.

Alternatively, you can pre-order the WWE 2K22 nWo 4-Life Edition for $119.99/£104.99, celebrating 25 years of the New World Order faction with all the Deluxe Edition content bundled, alongside  MyFaction EVO Cards and alternate nWo attires for Hollywood Hogan, Scott Hall, Kevin Nash, and Syxx, plus a playable Eric Bischoff character, WCW Souled Out 1997, and WCW Bash at the Beach 1996 arenas, as well as the nWo Wolfpac Championship.

The WWE 2K22 nWo 4-Life Digital Edition will be available from 8th March 2022, while pre-ordering either the standard or Cross-Gen Digital Bundle edition will get the Undertaker Immortal Pack with three additional Undertaker personas, MyFaction EVO cards for Undertaker, perks and bonuses, and more.   • Jeff Hardy cover would be sick! Make it his signature purple/green/black background and omg! :)
  • I somehow doubt they're gonna put someone they released 2 weeks ago onto the cover.
  • @QDawg: it’s just wishful thinking & more so a missed opportunity to do it. Hardy Boyz are arguably some of the most recognized wrestlers in history. Best tag team for sure, cemented with their TLC matches. :)
