While confirmation of a western release isn't forthcoming as yet, Bandai Namco has revealed the first Japanese teaser trailer for My Hero Academia: Ultra Rumble (via Siliconera), a free-to-play battle royale take on the popular Shonen Jump manga and anime series.

Last seen in 2020's My Hero One's Justice 2, the upcoming 2022 take on the series will see eight teams of three battling for supremacy in a large-scale arena, the last team standing being crowned the victor. For Ultra Rumble, the battlefield is based upon the Unforeseen Simulation Joint facility, used by U.A. High to train potential hero recruits.

As you leg it around the map, you'll be able to pick up items and equipment to upgrade your character's ‘Quirk’ abilities, the power level of which is determined by the items you've collected. You can even trade items with allies to acquire the best upgrades possible, and power-up your character to defeat rival teams.

You can check out the teaser for My Hero Academia: Ultra Rumble below, featuring characters like Katsuki Bakugo, Shoto Todoroki, and Izuku Midoriya, as well as Tsuyu Asui and Ochako Uraraka, All Might, Cementoss, and Mt. Lady. Playable antagonists include Himiko Toga, Mister Compress, Dabi, and Tomura Shigaraki from the League of Villains.

My Hero Academia: Ultra Rumble is set to release in Japan for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC, although a launch window or western version has yet to be announced. In Japan, a PS4-only closed beta is also planned for 2nd - 6th February for 10,000 players, sign-ups for which are available here from now until 28th January.
