Hogwarts Legacy Rumoured to be 'In Some Sort of Trouble', May Be Pushed into 2023 According to New Reports

New reports suggest that Harry Potter-verse RPG, Hogwarts Legacy, might be delayed until 2023, having been hit with a delay from 2021 to 2022 around the same time last year.

"Creating the best possible experience for all of the Wizarding World and gaming fans is paramount to us, so we are giving the game the time it needs," Warner Bros. Games said back in January 2021, and another similar statement could be in the offing soon, assuming the latest info proves accurate.

The latest delay rumours come care of Sacred Symbol's podcast (via Eurogamer), in which the host reckons that there are rumblings “behind the scenes" that Hogwarts Legacy" isn't coming out this year". Apparently, “it's in some sort of trouble”.

Whether WB Games and developer Portkey Games will come forth with an official delay announcement, pushing Hogwarts Legacy into 2023 remains to be seen, but this kind of thing rarely bodes well.

Set 200 years prior to the birth of Harry Potter, Hogwarts Legacy is an RPG set within the Potterverse, taking you to the hallowed halls of the wizarding school during the 1800s. Announced in September 2020, updates regarding Hogwarts Legacy have been sparse since then, so it's perhaps not all that implausible that the game could be in development hell.

  • If in January again there are rumours they can't finish the game this year, then it's in some sort of trouble alright.
  • Get your shite together WB and finish this title! I will be sad if it never makes it to shelf!
  • One of countless examples as to why you shouldn't announce games until they're in a much better state and you're more certain of their eventual release. This practice is so tiring.
  • Pretty sure this was supposed to be a smaller game, just a quick cash grab. Then when they announced the game, there was a lot of hype for what this game could become. The expectations got too high and now they (WB) are in trouble. People are expecting something bigger then WB was planning. Now they are investing extra resources to try and cash in on all this extra hype. That’s why it’s been delayed and will be delayed again. To buy time and make this a proper game instead of a quick cashgrab.

No evidence or whatever, just my opinion on what I believe is going on.
  • Take your time WB as much as it was announced with PS5 don't rush it.
  • Agree with Suplemental; I am perfectly okay with delays as long as the game will be adaquately polished. (thinking about what happened to Cyberpunk)
  • Be patient people, jeeze. The two dudes above me get it.
  • I'm with #3. I mean, you're waiting YEARS for a release, that's kinda dumb to me. Same goes with cinematic trailers for games - all that matters in the end is gameplay and not some fancy ass cutscenes. Only release gameplay trailers and that six months before release max..
