Rumour has it that Apex Legends could soon be arriving for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, having been confirmed by Respawn Entertainment back in August of last year, via a Reddit AMA post. Now it appears that the new-gen version of EA's battle royale title could be due to roll out imminently.
Spied by Eurogamer, speculation that Apex Legends could soon be getting a next-gen upgrade comes care of PlayStation Game Size, a Twitter account which tracks file sizes of PlayStation games. Apparently, Apex Legends is set to receive an update on PS5, weighing in at a hefty 80GB.
EA has stated that “more formal enhancements” are in the offing for Apex Legends, presumably in the wake of Season 11's conclusion, and although the game is currently playable on PS5 via backwards compatibility, a full-blooded next-gen version is also seemingly on the cards.
According to industry insider MauroNL, Apex Legends will be coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S with “boosted resolution, higher graphic fidelity and a 120fps mode”, but neither EA or Respawn have officially commented on the planned improvements and enhancements.
With the current Dark Depths event live now and available until 1st February in the run up to the advent of Season 12, could Respawn be planning to roll out the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S version of Apex Legends in time for the new season? Perhaps. We'll just have to wait and see.
