Dangen Entertainment has announced that Rise of the Third Power, “a throwback to the SNES era of RPGs”, will be launching in February. As such, the game is a 16-bit style “love letter” to the halcyon days of vintage RPGs, from indie studio Stegosoft Games.

Featuring a party of eight different characters who you'll enlist during the 35+ hour story-driven quest, Rise of the Third Power will have you exploring the world of Rin, in which you'll face a suicide mission to prevent war breaking out and topple the Arkadyan emperor.

Like Stegosoft's Ara Fell, Rise of the Third Power's battle system has an emphasis on using your abilities, meaning there's no need for a basic attack. Every skill is designed to be used frequently and tactically, to exploit the weaknesses of enemies. You can also save anywhere at any time during the story, and explore side content.

Risde of the Third Power will be coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC on 10th February 2022, priced $19.99. Check out the release date trailer below.

  • I loved their other game Ara Fell. Im hyped for Rise.
  • I just completed Ara Fell last month, and wondered why this game looked so similar to it. Same devs, awesome! Will definitely get.
