Final Fantasy XIV players will be able to claim seven days of free play, as compensation for the long delays many players have faced when trying to login to the new Endwalker expansion.
Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker officially launches tomorrow, but early access for players who pre-ordered the expansion began late last week, and the huge amount of FFXIV players attempting to log on at the same time has caused a fair bit of congestion. This has resulted in players waiting in queues to join servers for very long periods of time, even when just looking to play normally.
To compensate, all players who own the full game and have a subscription will be gifted seven days of free game time, starting on 7th December. This will also include players playing on the 30-day free play period if registering the full version of the game, as well as players with multiple accounts. Square Enix has also said it may offer even more free game time if congestion issues continue.
“Once again, I would like to apologize for the many inconveniences caused to our players as a result of the congestion that has continued since the start of Early Access. I am truly sorry, and we will continue to do our utmost to address the congestion situation and the errors during login queues as soon as possible,” says Final Fantasy XIV director Naoki Yoshida.
Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker is officially launching on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC on 7th December 2021.
