Rockstar Games has announced that the physical release of Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition has been delayed across all platforms.

For players on PlayStation and Xbox, that means that the game's physical release has been pushed back until 17th December 2021. The game was originally due to launch in stores on 7th December, so its a short ten-day delay, but still slightly unexpected considering we're just a week away from that original date.

Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition has been plagued with issues since launch - we described it as a “messy remaster” in our review - but developer Grove Street Games is attempting to fix the games, with the latest update adding fog back into San Andreas and fixing some of the more glaring bugs.

Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition will now launch physically on PS4 and Xbox on 17th December 2021, before coming to Nintendo Switch in 2022.

  • Real question is why the PS5 version isn't getting a physical copy
  • Because they want to push digital only.
  • This is likely due to shipping delays and labor shortages.
  • @DarkByke, Still doesn't explain the complete absence of a PS5 version.
  • @Unger:
They might release on next year with a first person mode that the PS4 just isn't capable of handling. x)
  • @c1ned1ne after the mess this was on release would you even want to play a first person version?
