Steering wheel maker Fanatec has unveiled the Gran Turismo DD Pro Direct Drive Wheel, a “high-performance” and “ready-to-race” package for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4, created in close collaboration with Sony Interactive Entertainment and Gran Turismo 7 developer Polyphony Digital. It'll be the best way to thrash a car around GT7's tracks in March, but the peripheral will cost you a fair bit.
Officially licensed as the perfect wheel to play Gran Turismo with, the DD Pro includes a “direct-drive wheel base, steering wheel, and pedals”. According to Fanatec, the wheel is “a milestone product, setting new standards for performance," made with Gran Turismo Sport and Gran Turismo 7 firmly in mind, with bespoke inputs created specifically for GT7 ahead of its 2022 launch. The Gran Turismo DD Pro includes all manner of spiffy features including “detailed” force feedback; a linear, consistent performance with 5Nm peak torque (an optional Boost Kit unlocking max strength 8Nm peak torque); a smooth ‘FluxBarrier’ motor; Fanatec SDK for compatibility with all ‘major’ racing games; front-mounted threaded inserts for Fanatec accessories; a tactile rubber grip; eleven buttons; metal pedals; and much more.
The Gran Turismo DD Pro Steering Wheel will be coming to PS5, PS4, and PC in March 2022, presumably in time for the release of Gran Turismo 7 on 4th March 2022. Pre-orders go live tomorrow, and will set you back $699.95/€699.95/AUD$1,229.95/¥92,900. You can find out more here.
