Capcom has announced that Luke will be coming to Street Fighter V: Champion Edition next week, the game's final character, and, apparently, a “major part of the next Street Fighter project”. Luke's story will involve a traumatic childhood event that inspires him to train as a fighter and join the military. And it looks like he'll have some sort of relationship with Guile.
“Luke will be a major part of the next Street Fighter project, so we hope you are excited to get your hands on him,” Capcom writes on its Capcom-Unity Blog, which also details the character's aggressive fighting style. Luke is geared towards forward movement, his normal punches thrusting him forward, enabling him to close short distances quickly. He also has a range of powerful projectiles, providing the perfect zoning tools.
These include a mid-to-long range projectile named ‘Sand Blaster’ that shoots energy from his palms, while ‘Rising Rocket’ is Luke's dragon punch, the perfect anti-air move that smashes opponents out of the air. You can also string together a one-two moving forward punch combo - dashing with the ‘Avenger' move, then following it up with the ‘No Chaser’ shoulder barge with a punch button.
Alternatively, you can follow ‘Avenger’ with a kick button for ‘Impaler’, a mid-range overhead kick. ‘Flash Knuckle’ is a charge attack that has different properties based on how long you hold down the button to charge it. Luke's V-Skills and V-Trigger are also unique to him, his V-Trigger described as "quite special".
Luke will be coming to Street Fighter V: Champion Edition for PlayStation 4 and PC on 29th November with additional costumes, available with the Season 5 Character Pass or Premium Pass. Both passes also include access to Dan Hibiki, Rose, and Oro, as well as Akira Kazama from Rival Schools. A Street Fighter V Free Trials is also available now on PS4, until 29th November.
