Marvels Avengers Spider-Man Expansion Wont Include Story Missions

Marvel's Avengers' Spider-Man Expansion Won't Include Story Missions

The PlayStation-exclusive Spider-Man DLC for Marvel's Avengers won't include story missions, Crystal Dynamics revealed to IGN.

Unlike previous new playable characters Kate Bishop, Hawkeye, and Black Panther, Spider-Man won't have his own campaign with missions. Instead, the “Spider-Man: With Great Power” story will be told via audio logs and illustrated cutscenes, unlocked by completing new challenges.

It seems that this slightly more pared-back approach - which Crystal Dynamics is calling a Hero Event, rather than an Operation - is specific to Spider-Man, due to his PlayStation exclusivity meaning that not every Marvel's Avengers player will be able to experience it.

“We want to spend our efforts on content that everyone can enjoy, so we chose to spend a lot of our energy on the Klaw raid that's coming up at the same time,” explained gameplay director Philippe Therien. “Really that's a simple decision for us. Spider-Man can play all the content, but then we release a piece of content that's good on all platforms. Really that was a decision that's been that way since the beginning.”

Spider-Man is due to join Marvel's Avengers on PS4 and PS5 on 30th November 2021.
