With Battlefield 2042 early access due to commence later this week, ahead of its full launch the following week, developer DICE has confirmed that the game's first season won't be arriving until sometime in 2022.

Season 1 promises new Portal content, as well as a new Specialist and Battle Pass. DICE also teases that there may also be “some new sights to see,” which presumably means new maps will likely be in the offing, too. In total, four Seasons are planned for BF 2042, each with their own corresponding Battle Pass and Specialist.

“In our first year of live service, we will deliver four Seasons, with four Battle Passes, four new Specialists, and new locations along with more fresh content,” the developer writes in a new blog post. “We also intend to deliver updates to Battlefield Portal that will give players more ways to build and share new Battlefield experiences with the world.”

Upon launch, a Preseason period will include Weekly Missions with Rewards to be earned, as well as Limited-Time Modes, and featured Creator Spotlights within the Battlefield Portal - the mode that enables players to mix and match different maps, weapons, vehicles and such from previous Battlefield games.

Battlefield 2042 launches from 12th November for anyone who pre-orders the Gold or Ultimate Editions of the game, alongside a 10-hour trial for EA Play members. Battlefield 2042 then launches for all players on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC on 19th November.

  • I was so excited for this one when it was announced but it's going to be an easy pass for me, I think, especially after seeing that leaked weapons list. The game's seriously lacking in content and didn't really have the same magic that earlier installments of the series did when I played the beta.
  • @Creasy007 Kool. Keep us posted.
  • So your excited for vanguard instead? I mean seriously there are hardly any games coming out this year wtf is gonna hard pass bf 2043
  • I was excited for this, but then I learned they're taking the "operator" or "specialist" approach to the game. I fucking hate premade characters with specific skill sets. Let me make my own character.
  • @railroberto, Nobody even mentioned Vanguard
