Online portal shooter Splitgate has received a major update this week, introducing new custom game options, as well as a revamp to the game's user interface. When selecting maps and modes, the new UI will make it easier to scroll through "present and saved game modes".

As you'd expect, custom games mode will enable you to create your own match types, then play with friends. You can define team traits, set up “wildly mixed” asynchronous matches, and choose parameters. One team could have supercharged health but no ability to use portals, while the opposition could have lower health, portals, and heavier weaponry.

Custom game modes can be saved and loaded up at any time, which simply wasn't an available option prior to the update. Instead, you has to manually setup custom settings each and every time you wanted to play. Custom game presets are also available, so you can get into a different match much faster.

Finally, Splitgate Season 0 is set to draw to a close on 30th November, bringing the battle pass to an end in time for a new season commencing on 1st December. The new season in December will bring with it a new battle pass and all-new content, while preceding the launch of Splitgate 1.0 in 2022.

Since its free-to-play beta release in July, Splitgate has attracted 15 million players, having reached a milestone of 10 million in August.
