Reminiscent of 1997 PSone swordfighting game, Bushido Blade, publisher Kwalee has announced Die by the Blade, a fast-paced one-on-one fighter, featuring one-hit-kill combat, various weapon play-styles, and an online mutiplayer mode. Developed by Grindstone and Triple Hill Interactive, the game is due to release in 2022.
Demanding a calculated strategy, Die by the Blade lists Bushido Blade, Way of the Samurai, and even Dark Souls as inspirations, with every move you make mattering. The game will feature a roster of seven customisable characters, each with their own movesets and weapon, including the swift, precise katana; tactile and manoeuvrable wakizashi; and heavy, brutal nodachi.
With 1v1 battles in solo and online modes, including ranked matches, tournaments, and more, Die by the Blade will be coming to PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC in 2022. You can check out some of the game's deadly swordplay in the announcement trailer below.
