Tomorrow will see Assassin's Creed Odyssey receiving a new patch that will enable 60 frames per second when playing on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, so you can play the Ancient Greek adventure at twice the usual frame rate.

Title Update 1.6.0 (detailed on Ubisoft's forums here) is due to roll out for Assassin's Creed Odyssey on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One at 7am BST/8am CEST/2am EST/4pm AEST on 24th August, 11pm PDT on 23rd August.

The patch will weigh in at around 470MB on PlayStation 4, and will only provide support for 60fps in Assassin's Creed Odyssey when playing on PlayStation 5 via backwards compatibility. Nice.

  • You love to see it. Hopefully more devs add these kind of patches to their game. Once you go 60 you cant go back to 30.
  • Nice! Still don't have enough storage space for this game, but once I do it's nice to play it with 60 fps
  • Thank god for that! Been waiting for this!
  • Didn't even notice it wasn't 60fps already, since people can't actually tell the difference, but it is what it is.
  • I'm one of the "weird ones" that picks graphics over fps. I could careless about fps in single player games. I guess in online shooters i'd make a difference, especially with crossplay enabled.
I guess we all have our preferences lol.
  • I wish they would patch Origins too someday
  • @dangisck I’m the complete opposite since playing on the PS5 lol. I hate 30fps because when you move the camera, everything is blurred. 60fps is a lot more smooth.
  • @Cirative Cant tell the difference LMAO
  • @Brawl1994 Haha. I have a few friends who can’t tell the difference either. I find it astonishing because the difference is night and day to me lol.
  • I can relate to Cirative, as I am one who can never really see the difference from 30 to 60fps. It is oddly wonderful how the human systems vary to such minute degrees. Glad some people can enjoy the difference though!
  • @EmptyFibers:

Ditto, I can't tell the difference either. To me, 30fps and 60fps are just numbers on a bit of paper and have no meaning.
  • @Terminator I can’t even play games at 30fps anymore having started playing on the PS5. It looks dreadful lol. I recently went back on Death Stranding and i had to turn it off. Everytime i moved the camera, it was just really blurry. Compared to 60fps where when you move the camera it is really smooth.

I guess if you aren’t too fussed about extra frames then you won’t notice.
  • I can tell the difference when I see something was bummed up from 30 to 60. I definitely notice it in Ghost of Tsushima and in that The Last of Us Part II trailer, but if something's 30 I don't mind. I don't have that problem that something gets blurry
