Bokeh Game Studio, the independent Japanese developer formed by Silent Hill creator Keiichiro Toyama, has been working on a prototype for its new game for the last six months.

This was revealed in an interview with Eurogamer, with Siren developer Kazunobu Sato explaining that Bokeh Game Studio had been working on a prototype for its new horror game since the beginning of 2021, and was taking more time to finalise the core mechanics.

“There are a lot of areas in the prototype that we need to touch up,” Toyama told Eurogamer, although the veteran developer believes that his new game has a “core experience” in the prototype that he hasn't seen in many other modern games, with “action and speedy” elements on top of the horror gameplay.

Toyama is also in charge of developing the game's narrative right now, and he wants to make sure the gameplay and story work together to help build the experience, rather than existing separately, although he acknowledges that it could be a challenge for the development team.

Director Toyama has plenty of ideas when it comes to the horror genre, however, with his time working on the more upbeat Gravity Rush series allowing him to “stock up on ideas” for a horror title that he wasn't able to use at that time.
