Test Drive Unlimited: Solar Crown is coming to PlayStation next year, and the game's setting has been revealed as Hong Kong in the latest trailer.
Developed by KT Racing, the studio behind the WRC series of games, Test Drive Unlimited: Solar Crown looks to bring back the fan-favourite racing series into the modern era. The latest trailer shows of the game's new setting - Hong Kong - which features a mix of urban and natural environments to race and drive through.
“Test Drive Unlimited: Solar Crown is first and foremost a Test Drive Unlimited game,” says creative director Alain Jarnious. “It's an MMO, which means a lot of players get to play together. It's an open world, which means you can go off-road. All of the above is essential to the Test Drive Unlimited license, and we've obviously including that in Test Drive Unlimited: Solar Crown.”
“The next stop for Test Drive Unlimited: Solar Crown is Hong Kong,” continues game & art director Amaury Beyris. “When we think of Hong Kong, we think of a big city, an urban jungle filled with skyscrapers, luxury cars, etc. But behind all that are vast, natural landscapes - forests, mountains, marshes, beaches - many environments that fit a car racing game very well.”
Outside of the Solar Crown tournament, which is the main focus of the game, there are also two clans within the game's version of Hong Kong that compete with each other - The Streets and The Sharps. They each have their own world view, and the player will join one of the clans in the game, climbing the ladder and trying to overthrow the other clan. You can get a sense of this rivalry in the new cinematic trailer below.
Test Drive Unlimited: Solar Crown launches on 22nd September 2022 on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
