PlayStation State of Play Announced for Thursday

Sony has announced a new PlayStation State of Play will be kicking off later this week.

The show will be approximately 30 minutes long, with nine minutes of those minutes set aside for a new look at gameplay from Deathloop, Arkane's upcoming time-bending shooter. The extended gameplay sequence will show the options available to protagonist Cole, whether that's stealthily creeping over rooftops, or kicking down the door all guns blazing.

The rest of the show will have updates on exciting indie titles and third-party games, with Sony setting expectations ahead of time, and letting fans know not to expect God of War, Horizon Forbidden West, or the new PlayStation VR headset. What should we expect, then? We're hoping for more Kena: Bridge of Spirits, perhaps another look at Stray, and hopefully some new exciting games coming later in 2021. Maybe they'll even announce the leaked acquisition of Bluepoint Games, and give us a teaser for the developer's next project? We can only hope.

The upcoming PlayStation State of Play will broadcast on Thursday 8th July at 14:00 PT / 17:00 ET / 22:00 BST.

  • Am I the only one that is already noping out of Deathloop?
  • Indies, woohoo, more pixel art games on my true next gen console.
  • @1, I was at first, but after some recent footage I'm pretty intrigued by it. I'm not sure I'll buy it right away, but I like the concept so far.
  • Can’t wait until we actually get some real next-gen games 3 years after the console launched!
  • Can't wait to get my hands on Kena.
  • Definitely hoping to see Kena.

I hope also to see Stray and more in-depth gameplay of that Evil Dead game.
  • Disappointment awaits!
  • Hoping for a release date on the Death Stranding Director's Cut!
