Hitman III developer IO Interactive has announced the opening of a new studio in Barcelona, as part of the developer's “ambitious and exciting” plans to expand in the coming years.
IOI Barcelona will join IOI Copenhagen and IOI Malmo, becoming the developer's third studio, and will work alongside the existing studios using IO's proprietary Glacier technology. What games will they be working on? Well, more Hitman, obviously, as well as the developer's exciting James Bond game, Project 007, and even a mysterious unannounced new IP.
IOI Barcelona is due to be located in the centre of the beautiful Spanish city, and the core team is already in place.
“There are exciting times ahead at IO Interactive and I am proud to announce the next step in our plans for the most desirable game company in Europe. IOI Barcelona will become the third studio to join our efforts to create phenomenal experiences for our players and communities,” said IO Interactive CEO Hakan Abrak.
Hitman III continues to expand, with plenty of content coming over the next few months. Meanwhile, we're dead excited for Project 007, which our own Rich Walker thinks can finally get Bond right in a video game.
