As Street Fighter V enjoys its five-year anniversary, Season 5 has gotten underway this week with the addition of ‘Master of Saikyo’ Dan Hibiki to the roster, the new 'V-Shift' battle mechanic, a new training stage, and balancing adjustments for every existing playable character.
Boasting his usual taunts and fighting style, Dan returns having been a Street Fighter Alpha mainstay and training partner to Ryu and Ken. You can add Dan to SF V's character selection with the Season 5 Character Pass or Season 5 Premium Pass, standalone for $5.99/£4.99, or in-game for 100,000 Fight Money.
The new ‘V-Shift’ system also adds new defensive and strategical options to Street Fighter V: Champion Edition in an update for all players, performing a completely invincible backdash to make space and plan counterattacks in exchange for a single V-Gauge bar. Also free is the new ‘The Grid Alternative’ training stage, and character balancing update that adds “more gameplay depth and enhancements” to SF V's combat system.
Season 5 is live now in Street Fighter V: Champion Edition, offering the Season 5 Character Pass for $24.99/£19.99 or Season 5 Premium Pass for $39.99/£32.99, granting access to Dan now, Rose in spring 2021, Oro and Akira in summer 2021, a fifth unannounced character, and bonus mimic character Eleven, as well as 26 new costumes, new colours, and two new backgrounds.
A Street Fighter V: Champion Edition + Season 5 Premium Pass Bundle is also available for $59.99/£49.99 (the Champion Edition Upgrade Kit and S5 Premium Pass costs $49.99/£39.99), while a free trial of the game with access to 40 characters is due to commence on 24th February.
