The Official Killzone Website Has Been Retired, Hindering Shadow Fall Clans

Guerrilla Games and Sony have officially retired the official website for the Killzone franchise, casting doubt on the future of the franchise and affecting some aspects of Killzone: Shadow Fall.

Anyone visiting killzone.com is now met with a message explaining that the URL will soon automatically direct to PlayStation.com.

“Dear Killzone.com visitor. The official website for the KILLZONE franchise has retired. Going forward, visitors to Killzone.com will be directed to PlayStation.com,” the message reads.

“While this change doesn’t affect the online multiplayer modes, player statistics or ranking data for Killzone Mercenary and Killzone: Shadow Fall, it is now no longer possible to create or manage clans in Killzone: Shadow Fall. We apologize for this inconvenience.”

"Thank you to Killzone.com’s many fans and visitors throughout the years for their enthusiasm and support. Sincerely, Guerrilla."

As noted, Killzone: Shadow Fall players can now no longer create new clans or manage existing ones in the most recent game in the franchise, which released back in 2013. It's unclear what this means for the future of the franchise, but with Guerrilla hard at work on Horizon Forbidden West and second studio Guerrilla Cambridge shut down in 2017, we expect we won't be seeing a new game anytime soon.

  • This is unfortunate as Killzone was a series that really helped define "next gen" FPS for the PS3. And to think that it's major competitor Halo is still going. You'd think that Sony would want to continue the franchise.
  • Nooo! Killzone was a great series along with Resistance by Insomniac. KZ: Shadow Fall was an excellent launch title for the PS4 back in 2013 and I have many great memories online along with KZ3.
