PSA: Battleborn Shuts Down For Good in Less Than Three Weeks

Richard Walker

Having been removed from digital storefronts last year, 2K has offered a reminder that Battleborn is due to be completely shut down later this month, meaning you now have less than three weeks left to play the game and mop up any missing trophies. Gearbox and 2K is “sunsetting” Battleborn to focus its “efforts and resources” on other projects.

Once Battleborn has been shut down, no part of the game will be playable – essentially, it'll be completely dead. “Once the servers are offline on January 25, 2021, Battleborn won’t be playable in any way,” 2K states in an updated blog post. The game's servers will, of course, be active until 25th January, enabling you to play until that date.

“Once servers are deactivated, Battleborn will no longer be playable,” 2K reiterates, so any virtual currency (Platinum) or coins you have will need to be spent by then, before it's rendered completely useless. That's it then… No more Battleborn in any capacity whatsoever after 25th January 2021.

  • But online is da fuuutuurrre derp. Good riddance to this rubbish.
  • Oh damn, will the platinum at least be reasonably achievable if starting from scratch now?
It's a shame how they treated the game and them being utterly unwilling to move it to F2P to revive it.
  • I thought it shut down years ago...
  • And nothing of value was lost.
  • Even though it sold poorly, they deserve some credit for keeping it up for nearly 5 years, unlike many sports titles that are only up for less than 2 years now.
