Silent Hill creator Keiichiro Toyama has departed Sony's Japan Studio to establish a new game studio called Bokeh, teaming up with fellow Japanese game dev veterans Junya Okura and Kazunobu Sato, whose previous credits include The Last Guardian, Gravity Rush, and the Forbidden Siren horror games.

Bokeh Game Studio will operate as an independent outfit, looking to replicate the spirit of “making things on a whim”. The studio's first project will be an “original action adventure game”, planned for release on a range of platforms. Toyama will serve as the studio's Creative Director, while Sato will fulfil the role of Producer.

Okura's role, meanwhile, will be that of Game Director. “It is hard, there are responsibilities, but we have our freedom,” said Okura of the advantages of founding a new indie studio. "This is the most important. I want to enjoy creating from now on.”

You can take a look at Bokeh Game Studio's introductory video below, featuring a discussion between Toyama, Okura, and Sato, as well as a brief glimpse at some concept art for the developer's first project.
