Following a teaser trailer yesterday, THQ Nordic has now officially revealed Chronos: Before the Ashes for PS4.
When it was first revealed yesterday, it wasn't clear if it was a brand new game or not. However, THQ Nordic have now confirmed that it is an overhauled and optimised version of the 2016 game Chronos, which was previously a VR-exclusive title. It will now be coming to PlayStation 4 as a non-VR title.
Created by Darksiders developer Gunfire Games, Chronos served as a prequel to Remnant: From the Ashes, and follows a young hero as they attempt to save their home from an ancient evil. Combat is described as "unforgiving and brutal" with your character cast out of the labyrinth for an entire year after each death - the more you die, the more your character ages.
You can check out the announcement trailer down below - Chronos: Before the Ashes releases on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC on 1st December 2020.
Reminds me of Ashen, which i enjoyed immensely. I do wonder exactly of the aging/dying mechanic works in the long haul, as well, is this a rogue like (lite) game. If so, hard pass.
