Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart will run at 4K / 30FPS as standard, but will also offer a lower-resolution 60FPS mode.
The news was first reported following a developer interview with Famitsu, before Insomniac Games confirmed the news themselves on Twitter. The original Ratchet & Clank trilogy on PlayStation 2 ran at 60FPS as standard, while the series shifted to lower framerates on PS3 and PS4. This option is particularly good for any PlayStation 5 players without access to a 4K display, allowing them to still take full advantage of the power of next-gen hardware.
Insomniac previously confirmed a similar option would be available in Spider-Man: Miles Morales, so it isn't too surprising to see that scaling tech used in their other main title.
If you missed it, we got a look at seven uninterrupted minutes of gorgeous Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart gameplay during Gamescom Opening Night Live - we highly recommend you check it out here.
Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart will launch exclusively on PlayStation 5 during the next-gen console's launch window.
