Insomniac has showcased an extended gameplay trailer for Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, in which the eponymous lombax and his shiny robot buddy butt heads with archnemesis Dr. Nefarious, inadvertedly creating rifts all over the game's reactive world.

A continuation of Ratchet & Clank: into the Nexus, Nefarious is equipped with the dangerous Dimensionator, enabling him to travel to other dimensions at will, while Ratchet can use his rift tether to pull himself through orange holes torn in the fabric of reality.

Encountering purple rifts can see anything happening, be it tentacles snatching away people or monsters spilling through. Using the PS5's SSD, travelling through rifts enables you to hop through different locations almost instantly, while the game's diverse environments feature huge destructibility.

Check out the new Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart gameplay trailer below (with another appearance form the mysterious female lombax), from Megapolis, to alternate dimensions, and beyond. Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart will be coming exclusively to PlayStation 5 during the console's holiday 2020 "launch window".
