We'll be getting an extended look at Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart gameplay during Gamescom Opening Night Live on Thursday, Geoff Keighley has announced.

Remember the short gameplay sequence revealed during the PlayStation 5 Future of Gaming event, which featured clips of Ratchet using his Rift Tether to flank enemies, and showed off some of the game's new weapons? Well we'll be seeing the uncut version of the demo in full during the Gamescom event, followed by a Q&A with Insomniac Games.

Geoff has promised to ask about the female Lombax that will be playable, but personally we'd like to know exactly where this game takes place in the Ratchet & Clank timeline - is this a continuation from Ratchet & Clank: Nexus, or is it instead a sequel to the 2016 reboot which altered the origins of the franchise? Hopefully we won't have long to find out, as Gamescom Opening Night Live kicks off this Thursday at 19:00 BST / 11:00 PDT.

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is due to come to PlayStation 5 in the near future.

  • Little letdown on this seeing we all know what to expect from the Ratchet and Clank games already (awesome gameplay, amazing graphics, over the top weapons and the sarcastic intellect brought to you by Clank). Was hoping for a big reveal that we haven't seen yet. Hopefully they at least tell us the release date so I can pre-order the game.
  • @1, this is just one thing they've announced. I'm sure they will announce more shortly.
  • I say it before and I say it again I understand why they doing it but both Microsoft and Playstation doing something extremely dangerous this next upcoming generation. We almost in September n still no price, with the world situation u need to give people time to get their money together. not everyone is fortunate to jump up and pre order right away, this is extremely dangerous
  • @Comment #2 by LordShavron It's been more than 2 months on anything solid and it's all speculation and or rumors since. This cat and mouse game the two companies are playing should just end with SONY announcing the price on a Friday and the release is the following Tuesday and have it launched as the earlier rumor suggested of October 20th because if they launch first especially with no big game in terms of exclusive for the Series X most people that buy just one system will buy the PlayStation 5 if it is the rumored $500USD price tag.
  • @Comment #3 by akabling06 Problem is people know the new consoles are coming and have for more than a year now. I was going to be doing game trades towards my PlayStation 5 so any trade in promotions EB Games Canada will be running I just put the trade value on my Onyx card. Right now I'm at $643.15 and they are running a promotion of trade more get more and all you need to do is trade in the top tier 7 games and automatically get an extra $40 and I'll be trading in 14 games and pre-ordering Mafia Definitive Edition for $50 and the remainder of the money is going right to my Oynx card which if trade values don't drop between now and tomorrow will be an extra $138 bringing my total to obviously $781.15CAD. I was hoping to have more than that but with the 2 month COVID-19 shutdown it's stopped my game buying and trading. I've also been pretty much starving myself (not like I couldn't afford to lose some weight) but I also want to get the 8K DENON X4700H receiver.
