WB Games Montreal has at long last lifted the lid on Gotham Knights, the latest entry in Warner Bros.' Batman series that apparently sees Batman going into retirement (since he's supposed to be officially dead) to make way for a new group of Gotham protectors. Among them is Nightwing, Robin, Batgirl, and Red Hood in a solo or 2-player co-op affair.

While this appears to belong to the same universe as the Arkham series, it looks a lot more colourful than the other titles released to date, as the 'Batman Family' serve as successor to the Dark Knight, despite Bruce Wayne actually being very much alive. Oh, and the Court of Owls are in the mix, too, as expected, as well as villains like Mr. Freeze.

Together, the eponymous Gotham Knights must bring hope to the citizens of the crime-ridden city, and fear to the criminals. Check out Batgirl, Nightwing, Robin, and Red Hood in action in the first official Gotham Knights trailer and gameplay walkthrough below.

Gotham Knights is scheduled to launch sometime in 2021 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, and PC.

  • Hell yes, this will be awesome, will miss Batman, but if it's like the other games, count me in.
  • Whhhhhhhy does it have a lvl and stat system? Either this will be a co op game or you will be gated to specific areas....
  • It is a co-op game, they said so, in a livestream, after the reveal trailer. I also suspect that it is going to a games as a service type game (much like the Avengers) because they seemed to infer that more heroes maybe added at a future date. If so, probably going to be a hard pass as that's just not what I'm interested in...
  • With this lvl system, it looks like the newest assassins creed games. I loved these but that look terrible on a batman game...
  • This looks so much better than Marvel's Avengers. It's like they took the formula of the Batman games and were like, "Hey, how do we make this co-op?" It does seem like some higher ups insisted on a loot system for long-term gameplay but honestly I don't mind it. The problem with Marvel's Avengers, aside from the technical issues and the horrendously claustrophobic environments and repetitive missions, is that it feels like you could just stand there while your 3 AI or player teammates do all the work for you. There's no incentive to actually play. This game is only for 1-2 players, and has a stealth mechanic, so you pretty much have to participate. I love that.
  • Co-op Batman game that includes the rest of the Batman family!?? Day one pre-order for me!
  • Judging by that suit that Robin had, there will be different skins that you can change into. Hopefully they'll have a wide variety. I'd like to have more comic accurate costumes for my heroes. Also, I hope they can add more heroes to the mix like Terry McGinnis/Batman Beyond, Red Robin, Batwoman, Azrael, Catwoman & Huntress
  • @7 That other Robin costume looked a lot like the Red Robin costume, honestly, considering that is the Robin that eventually becomes Red Robin. When I watched the gameplay demo, they did say that they wanted the game to playable solo or co-op, so hopefully that works out.
