2020's Call of Duty Rumoured to Be 'Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War'

Apparently, it's Treyarch's turn to make a Call of Duty game this year, and unsurprisingly, a return to the Black Ops series is on the cards. Treyarch's last CoD effort was Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 in 2018, and according to rumours, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War could well be the next entry.

The game's title reportedly originates from a leak, backed up by sources via Eurogamer, stating that the series is set to return to its roots, in a more grounded historical backdrop closer to the original title's 1960s setting. Whether Cold War will reference the futuristic sequels is unknown, but a soft reboot is likely.

It's thought that the opening of bunker doors in Call of Duty Warzone could be poised to offer hints that point towards the next mainline Call of Duty instalment, with some players even managing to glitch through the walls in the battle royale title to discover a Cold War era spyplane.

Traditionally, Activision tends to lift the lid on the latest Call of Duty around May, so we're presumably due for an official reveal very soon. Will Treyarch's next game be Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War? Watch this space.

  • Go ala CODMW (2019) and leave out the multiplayer trophies, and I'd be happy
  • No zombies for me thanks but with Treyarch, that's not gonna happen, I guess. If the trophy set is as heavy on zombies as BLOPS4 was, I'll be passing on this one too.....
  • @ #2 ... Zombie trophies are the worst. I loved the first Black Ops but eventually I couldn't be bothered with the DLC zombie ones anymore for the 100%.
  • I actually love Zombie mode, but the trophies seem to just get more and more ridiculous each year. I forget the last Zombie game I was playing, but it took me and two friends almost 3 hours just to earn 1 trophy. That crap is just unnecessary and a major turn off for me.
  • @ #4 ... I'm pretty much the same as you. Zombie modes are a nice, fun "bonus," but the only "challenge" of the trophies is patience, having a lot of time, and logistical skills managing online helpers. They are not fun. Trophies should be fun, in my view. Something difficult or actually challenging can be fun. Grinding and people-pushing skills is not fun or challenging, in my opinion.
  • Are they ever going to do the Vietnam War?
  • Used to love zombies, but from Blops2 they just rapidly went downhill.
