If Rayman Origins and Rayman Legends have taught us anything, it's that lovingly hand-painted platformers are amazing. Visually cut from similar cloth, Yoku's Island Express possesses its own hand-painted world and unique charm, with a story that casts you in the role of a dung beetle postmaster.

Set in the tropical island paradise of Mokumana, playing as Yoku has you rolling along a marble and engaging in all manner of frantic pinball puzzling shenanigans, as embark upon a journey to rebuild the island's post office, make your deliveries and awaken the old god from its slumber.

We had a chance to play the game recently, and enjoyed its endearing blend of characters, conundrums and pinball platforming action. Check out 11 minutes of lovely fresh Yoku's Island Express gameplay, below. The game launches for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC on 29th May for $19.99/£15.99.

  • Pinball platformer, eh? Could be fun... Or extremely frustrating if the physics aren't good.
  • Someone who has never played Sonic Spinball?! Huh. You'll have a chance when another Sega collection is released later this month. It's great and one of, if not the first Genesis game I played.
