The last thing we heard about the prospect of a new Splinter Cell, Ubisoft said we'd have to wait for it. Now we have what could be the first very tentative rumblings of a potential next Splinter Cell game in a listing on Amazon Canada. There's not really much to go on, beyond the listing simply saying "Splinter Cell 2018", but we'll take what we can get.
It's been almost five years since Sam Fisher's last outing in Splinter Cell: Blacklist, so goodness knows that it's high time the series made a comeback. "I think you will be able to see something, but you will have to wait for that," was the last word from Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot on the subject of a new Splinter Cell title, but that was back during E3 last June.
With E3 2018 rolling around again this summer, the smart money could be on Ubisoft finally pulling back the veil on a new Splinter Cell game, what would be the first to arrive on current hardware. Perhaps this Amazon Canada listing is a slightly-too-hasty placeholder and the online retailer knows something we don't. Whatever the case, we're more than ready for Splinter Cell and Sam Fisher to make a return, alongside more Tom Clancy in The Division 2.
