Capcom has announced that Monster Hunter: World has now become its best-selling game of all-time, reaching 7.5 million units sold, beating previous Capcom best-seller Resident Evil 5. This follows Monster Hunter: World being dubbed Capcom's 'fastest-selling' game, having shipped 6 million copies as of last month.
Previous Capcom record holder, Resident Evil 5, had shifted 7.2 million copies up to September 2017, which makes Monster Hunter: World the company's best seller by a fair margin. The numbers take into account both digital and physical retail sales on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
The success of Monster Hunter: World means that since the first Monster Hunter debuted 14 years ago, the series has now racked up cumulative sales of more than 48 million units worldwide, as of today, 5th March 2018. "Monster Hunter: World has overcome both linguistic and cultural barriers to delight approximately 7 million players worldwide, and has shipped 7.5 million units, making it the best-selling title in company history," reads Capcom's announcement.
Monster Hunter: World launched globally on 26th January for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and you can check out our review here.
